Q:  Is that the problem with the research into 
McLuhan’s work—that it has more to do with the 
researchers than with McLuhan himself?

A:  Yes, I think the revival is in the States because 
of its peculiar television situation. I mean McLuhan 
is becoming a profit for the age of Geraldo you 
know. I think people are trying to understand, is 
there a way of coming to terms with what seems 
to be a beast out of control? I don’t know that 
McLuhan does have that many answers. I think it’s 
like the bubonic plague, you just have to wait until 
it dies out or something.
